Packing Sweet Case for Foster Love!
We had another wonderful day with our Green Stars! We are so proud of how quickly they are settling into our Service Stars routine and building our classroom community. They were thoughtful, creative, and excited to help others throughout the afternoon!
Today, we learned about Sweet Cases, a special Foster Love project that helps children who are experiencing foster care transitions. Our Green Stars helped pack the cases with things like a cozy blanket, stuffed animal (that also received a HUGE hug!), coloring and activity supplies, and other special items to help make a difficult transition a little bit easier. You can learn more about Sweet Cases here: Foster Love Sweet Cases.
While we packed, we talked about how sometimes kids go through hard or challenging times, and we thought about the kinds of things that might make someone feel a little happier, safer, or more cared for during those moments. The Green Stars had so many thoughtful ideas! We also made special cards to put inside the Sweet Cases so that the children receiving them will have a little message of kindness waiting for them.
We also read A Bear to Share and talked about what it means to give to others, share what we have, and make someone else feel special. It was a great way to connect our story to the service project we were working on together!
Of course, we also made sure to have plenty of time to play outside, hang out with our friends, and decompress after a busy day at school.
