First Day of Service Stars!

Welcome back to all of our returning Service Stars families, and a big welcome to all of our new families! We are so excited to have you with us and are so glad you’re here.

We had such a great first day with our Green Stars! They did an amazing job, especially for their very first day of school, and we were already so impressed by their listening skills, kindness, and enthusiasm. We can tell we’re in for a wonderful year together!

Today, we kicked things off by getting to know Service Stars and talking about what community service is and why it is so important. We created our very own Classroom Promise, which will be displayed in our classroom throughout the year as a reminder of how we want to treat one another and our community. We also talked about how we can work together to keep our classroom a space that we are proud of at the end of every day.

Then, we learned about food insecurity and how some of our neighbors may not always have enough food or may need a little extra support getting the food they need. To put our learning into action right away, we made snack bags to donate to preschools in our community that welcome snack donations. We talked about how giving back can make a difference for others and how good it can make us feel to know that we are helping our community!

We also spent some time getting to know one another through name and get-to-know-you games, enjoyed some playground time, and decorated special bag tags to go on the snack bags we made. It was such a fun way to start building our Green Star community while also making a difference right from day one!

We are already so proud of our Green Stars and can't wait to see what they accomplish together.
