Making Bird Feeders!
We had another great day with our Blue Stars! Today, we learned all about the birds in our community, why they are important, and how they help our environment. We then put our learning into action by making our very own bird feeders out of oranges and Fruit Loops! The kids were encouraged to bring their feeders home, ready to hang in a yard, on a porch or somewhere in the neighborhood where birds can safely enjoy them.
Next week is an early-release day for Newton Public Schools, so we’ll be welcoming both new and returning friends to Service Stars from 12:10 pm –3:30 pm. We’ll be learning about the Coast Sweep initiative, creating flyers, and heading out into the neighborhood to spread the word about the importance of keeping our oceans clean. You can learn more about Coast Sweep here: Coast Sweep
From 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm, we’ll have a separate trash pickup around the neighborhood during our regular Service Stars time.
