The Teal Pumpkin Project!

Reflection questions about today’s project to ask your child:

  • What does a teal pumpkin represent at Halloween?

  • Why did we include both candy and non-food treats in our Halloween bags?

  • How can we help make Halloween fun and safe for more children in our community?

This week we introduced the Teal Pumpkin Project, an initiative that helps children with food allergies enjoy trick-or-treating by encouraging families to offer non-food treats. We talked about what it's like to have food allergies, how they can make Halloween challenging, and why it's important to make sure everyone feels included in the fun. The kids got creative painting and decorating their pumpkin - check out some pictures below!

This project was a great way to reinforce our October theme of Creating Community.

A huge thank-you to Volante Farms and United Parish of Auburndale for donating the pumpkins for our project.
