A Little Gratitude Goes a Long Way!

A few questions to ask your Green Star about today:

  • What does it mean to be grateful?

  • What is something or someone you are thankful for?

  • How did we show our gratitude to veterans today?

Today, we kicked off our November theme, Attitude of Gratitude, by talking about the people and little things we appreciate. We also started our Service Stars Gratitude Tree! Each Wednesday in November and December, Green Stars will add leaves sharing something they are grateful for. We can't wait to see our tree fill up!

For today's service project, we made candy bags for deployed soldiers! We learned about military deployment and Soldiers' Angels, an organization that supports service members, veterans, and their families. Using the leftover Halloween candy donated by our families, the kids filled bags, secured them, and made special tags to send along. It was a wonderful way to show appreciation for those serving our country!

We also read Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhood by Valerie Pfundstein and talked about why it's important to recognize and thank veterans.

Looking ahead: Next week, we'll be making a special Thanksgiving craft for our friends at Evans Park!

Thank you to everyone who donated leftover Halloween candy. Your contributions made this project possible!
