Teal Pumpkin Project!

A few questions to ask your Blue Star about today:

  • Why did we paint our pumpkins teal?

  • How can we help make Halloween fun and inclusive for everyone?

  • What are some ways we can show kindness and help our community during Halloween?

Today, we worked on the Teal Pumpkin Project, a special initiative that helps make Halloween more inclusive for children with food allergies and other dietary restrictions.

Our Blue Stars painted pumpkins teal, the color used to represent the Teal Pumpkin Project. During Halloween, a teal pumpkin lets trick-or-treaters know that a house offers non-food treats as an alternative to candy, helping make sure more children can safely participate in the fun!

A huge thank-you to our community partners Volante Farms and United Parish of Auburndale for donating the pumpkins for our project.

Looking ahead to next week: We’ll have our early release program, and we’re excited to visit a local senior living community to trick-or-treat and share some Halloween cheer! Please have your child bring their costume to Service Stars next week so they can dress up for our visit.
